A fan that fits your room and the way you use it.
Orlando Handyman installs ceiling fans and light fixtures. Swap out an old fan, freshen up a room's lighting, or turn a plain ceiling light into a fan that keeps the room comfortable.
Sean owns and operates Orlando Handyman. Learn more about Sean and his home repair and installation background. Tell us about the fan and the room, and a photo helps. We'll plan the installation around your space.
Ceiling fan installation and replacement
Let us know whether there's a light or a fan there now, and we'll plan the installation around it.
Mounting support, size, and ceiling height
A ceiling fan hangs on solid support: a fan-rated electrical box or suitable structural support, with mounting hardware that matches the fan. We install your fan following the manufacturer's instructions for your model, so it's mounted the way it was designed to be.
- Room size and blade clearance: we consider the fan's blade span and its distance from walls, beams, and other features so it fits the room comfortably.
- Low ceilings: a low-profile model is a good way to gain clearance while still moving air.
- High ceilings: a compatible downrod brings the fan down to a comfortable working height in the room.
- Sloped ceilings: models that support angled mounting, along with the right adapter or downrod, let the fan hang level and look finished.
Send us the model number or a product link and we'll help sort out the downrods, mounting kits, and light kits that go with your fan.
Controls for your fan and light
Pull chains, a wall switch, a remote, or an app: we set up the fan, receiver, wall control, and existing wiring so they work together. If you'd like separate control of the fan and light, tell us how you want the room to work.
Fans and lights each have their own control needs. A standard light dimmer isn't a fan speed control, and some remote-controlled fans work best with a particular wall switch. We pick the control that suits your fan so it operates the way you expect.
Want app or voice control? Ask about our smart home installation and we'll set the fan up with the system you prefer.
How much does ceiling fan installation cost?
The price depends on the fan, the ceiling height and what's there now.
Getting a free estimate is easy: tell us what you need, add a photo if you have one, and we'll take it from there. You'll know exactly what's included before any work starts.
Request a Ceiling Fan EstimateChoosing a fan for an Orlando porch or patio
Outdoor exposure matters as much as appearance. A damp-rated fan is made for a covered spot that's protected from direct rain. A wet-rated fan is built for wet exposure. We help you pick the right rating for your space and install it in the right spot.
A roof is a great start, and Florida's wind-driven rain can still reach the mounting area. Tell us about your porch or patio and we'll help you choose a fan and controls that suit it.
Light fixture installation and ceiling touch-ups
We also install light fixtures, from a simple swap to a new look for the whole room. Tell us about the fixture and where it's going, and we'll make sure it's mounted securely and works properly with your switches.
A smaller fan canopy or fixture base can reveal old holes or a different paint color. We can take care of ceiling patching and painting along with the installation, so the ceiling looks finished when we leave.
Ceiling fan installation questions
Should I buy the fan before requesting an estimate?
Either way works. You're welcome to contact us first with a fan you're considering, and we'll talk through how it suits the room, ceiling height, and controls. If you've already bought one, we'll install it.
Can the existing wall switches still work?
Often they can. It depends on the fan's control system and the current wiring. Tell us how the room works now and how you'd like it to work, and we'll set it up that way.
Can you look at a fan that wobbles or makes noise?
Yes. Tell us what you're seeing and hearing, and Sean will look at the mounting, blades, controls, and the fan itself to find the best fix, whether that's an adjustment, a repair, or a replacement.
How should I prepare the room?
A clear path to the work area is plenty. We take care of the rest.
